Multiscale Microstructure Analysis Laboratory

Welcome to the Tae-Hoon Kim research group at School of Materials Science and Engineering, Chonnam National University.

The focus of our group is to elucidate correlations between microstructures and properties of materials. From macro to micro to nano to atomic-scale microstuctural analysis provides insight to understand underlying mechanisms of materials processes and phase transitions. Especially, we utilize scanning / transmission electron microscope (SEM / TEM) for multiscale materials characterization.


Our research interest is...

  • In-situ Transmission Electron Microscopy (heating-, biasing-, cryo-TEM) with atomic-scale materials characterization

  • Developing high performance permanent magnet (rare earth Nd-Fe-B, Sm-Co, Iron nitride: Fe16N2)

  • Microstructure analysis of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets

  • The behavior of magnetic skyrmion for future spintronics application

  • Ni-based superalloy powder for 3D printing

  • Nano materials synthesis & Analysis


We are looking for highly motivated and passionate researchers (Postdoc) (especially who have experiences and skills in TEM/SEM analysis), graduate students (MS, PhD), and RA (Research Assistant).
